7 Habits
According to Covey, this habit explains our ability to take charge of our lives. We have the ability to take charge, plan ahead, and focus our energies on things we can control instead of reacting to or worrying about things over which we have little or no control. As a senior on the U of L football team, it’s important that I step up and become a leader and a role model for the younger and more inexperienced players. I am not a very vocal person, so I try to lead by example, whether it be working hard, listening to the coaches, or doing the right thing on and off the field. As a senior, it is my duty to become more vocal on the field, in the weight room and in the meeting rooms in order to establish my leadership. Ways that I can become a leader through being more vocal are to encourage the younger players by using phrases such as “Good job!” or “Keep working hard!” Along with encouraging words, it’s also important to critique the younger players in what they are doing wrong with phrases such as “You need to work harder!” or “Do the right thing!” I believe if I use phrases that I discussed; the leadership that I should be giving will eventually come around.
