In the novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, slavery seems to be one of the main conflicts between Huck and society. Mark Twain himself was not in big favor of slavery. Twain puts his thoughts into Huck’s character. For instance, Huck becomes Jim’s best friend even though Jim is a slave. Jim and Huck become very close throughout their adventure together. Jim protects Huck. In return Huck helps Jim to become a freed slave. They are both in similar situations only Huck is running from civilization and Jim is running from slavery.
