National missile defense
There is a debate over whether the United States needs a National Missile Defense. The National Missile Defense system if built is a system of interceptor missiles. The system would help prevent a nuclear missile attack on the United States. The system is under development and there are two plans, each plan calls for a different solution. I will explain where the idea for the National Missile Defense system originated; the differences in the debate over weather the U.S. need the system, the differences in the two proposed systems.The missile defense system idea was started 1983 by the Reagan administration. The project’s name was Strategic Defense Initiative. The plan purposed was labeled Star Wars. This plan was developed because of fear of the Soviet Union. It was feared that the soviets would use nuclear missiles to attack us. The Strategic Defense Initiative would start a counter attack against the country where missile was fired from at the United States. The Strategic Defense Initiative laid the groundwork for the National Missile Defense system. There is the question of weather the United States should build a National Missile Defense system.
