Animal Farm

For my book report, I read the book “Animal Farm” by George Orwell. It was a wonderful book with a hidden meaning. I was surprised at the powerful message this book sent.

The setting of the book is November 1943 on Manor farm. The main characters are Jones the farmer, Napoleon the pig, Snowball the pig, Squealer the pig, the pack of dogs, Benjamin the donkey, boxer the hoarse, and clover the horse. Some of the minor characters include the sheep herd, the hens, the chickens, Mr. Pilkington the farmer, Fredrick the farmer and the crow Moses.

The story begins with a speech by Major the pig. Major was a wise and respected pig, so everyone was willing to miss an hour or so of sleep to hear a midnight speech in a

secrit meeting. He starts of by informing them all that he had had a strange dream, and he would discuss it later but now, he wanted to say something else. He told them that he was a very old pig who probably wouldn’t be

around for much longer. He said that he felt it was his duty to share some of the wisdom he had acquired in his lifetime. His words were as follows…
