In my opinion, the women’s movement was the most important reform of theprogressive period. If I had lived during this period, I don’t know how I would have survived being treated the way these women did. Men were the only ones who could go out, get jobs, or participate in their community. Women were expected to sit home taking care of the children, cooking and cleaning. They were not respected or treated as human beings. This treatment of women was promoted by Victorianism.
