Memorable History Moments
What is history? History is defined as “a chronological record of significant events (as affecting a nation or institution) often including an explanation of their causes” (Marriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary). Though history is a record of significant events, no one can really tell exactly how the history of the events has happened. History to some people is a fact, but to some people, it is just an opinion. Therefore, history can be present as a fact or just an opinion. However, the most memorable events in history are seen through the media, which consist of pictures and a person telling the events. People care about what they see more than what they read. The three events in history that I think had mostly affected the American’s culture are the Rodney G. King’s beating, the O.J. Simpson’s trial, and the Bill Clinton’s scandal. Starting with Rodney G. King’s beating, the event has affected not just the American’s culture, but it also affected both the black and the white race. Rodney G. King is an African-American man who resided in Simi Valley, California that was caught speeding which ended up in a hot pursuit at a speed of 110 mph.
