Yet when we compare Athenian Democracy with American democracy, we analyze that American democracy is very similar with to Athenian democracy.Since we know that the Athenian democracy begun way back to the 5th century BC, we can even say that the American democracy is based on the concepts of Athenian democracy .
The basic concept of democracy in Athens as we can infer from Pericles’ speech and described by Thucidides is that Athenian Democracy was based on the belief that power rested in the hands, not of the minority but of the whole people .
