Studying the effect of temperature on the rate of reactions To Study the effect of temperature on the rate of reactions, I will be looking at the reaction of Sodium Thiosulphate solution and dilute Hydrochloric Acid. Chemical reactions occur when particles of a substance collide with each other. Sometimes the particles in a reactant do not have enough energy to collide with each other so the products, which are formed, and the end of a reaction cannot form. At the beginning of the experiment between Dilute Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Thiosulphate, the cross on the paper can be seen easily. When the solution becomes more and more cloudy, the cross starts to disappear.
