THOMASIAN COMPETENCE IN THE AGE OF GLOBALIZATION
Globalization has no real definition uniform to all human beings. ... From this, where does a Thomasian stand?
As to those who have only heard of globalization for the very first time, let me have the honor of introducing it. Globalization, according to a company’s terminology, is the phenomenon that the degree of global human interaction increases to such an extent that both its primary effects and the reactions it provokes give rise to numerous new developments. Globalization is caused by three prime movers: technological globalization, political globalization and economic globalization. The three prime movers initiated a process in which geographic distance becomes less a factor in the establishment and sustenance of border crossing, long distance economic, political and socio-cultural relations and which we call globalization. ... Globalization is not only negative. ...
On the contrary, my idea of what globalization is the spread of information via the internet, free press, publications, or otherwise that provides a common information base for people of diverse cultures and backgrounds to learn, research, and become more informed about the world around them.
