Christie Casey Satanic Ritual Abuse Disorder Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA) is a “group of individuals, assumed to be in association with a widespread conspiracy, practice physical, emotional, and spiritual abuse on unwilling victims in a ritualistic manner, especially in connection with a commitment to Satanism. This is distinguished from loner or isolated small group abuse (SRA Glossary).” There are two ways that the pendulum of belief concerning satanic ritual abuse swings. ... In Showalter’s book, Hystories (1997), she explains that there was a conference in Chicago for Multiple Personality Disorder, in which 25% of therapists talked of patients describing in great detail, stories of torture, abuse, and satanic ritual secret sects. ... Some therapists, among them George Ganaway, the director of the Center for Dissociate Studies at the University of Georgia, reported numbers as high as half of their patients were reporting vivid memories of cannibalistic revels and experiences of ritual sacrifice. ... Satanic ritual abuse is a modern day witch hunt, which is in some ways even worse than the Salem witch hunts, because today society has access to media which makes knowing news around the world as easy as turning on a computer, TV, or even in some cases observing trends in the subject of movies and books. ... In the movie Rosemary was very convincing that throughout the whole pregnancy she had no idea that her husband made a pact with the devil, and that satanic activity was right under her nose.
