Hamlet Character Analysis
In Shakespeare’s play, “Hamlet”, the character, Hamlet, is the vehicle of an abundance of qualities and attributes. Hamlet character traits include nobility, bravery and intelligence; he also exercises a conscience, which causes the hesitation in avenging his father’s murder. Hamlet cannot seek vengeance until he himself is assured of Claudius’s guilt, proving Hamlet is a highly righteous and moral character. Throughout “Hamlet”, Hamlet exercises his honesty, bravery and perceptive traits, making the comment that he is far from being heroic, is flawed and lacks the will to avenge his father’s death an unwarranted comment. Hamlet contains the quality of nobility in two forms, Hamlet is noble in the form of his birth, as he is a prince, yet Hamlet is also noble in the form of his high principles and morals. These characteristics are conveyed throughout “Hamlet”, such as, Hamlet’s nobility, his sense of human decency and respect when faced with Laertes and their planned duel.
