Human Dichotomy as Portrayed in Othello
In the play Othello, written by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare attempts to portray a side of human nature not typically exposed. Through his depictions of the central characters, namely Othello, Iago, and Cassio, Shakespeare demonstrates that the way people appear on the outside is not necessarily how they are on the inside. ... One such example involves Iago’s attempts to use reverse psychology on Othello. It is very obvious to the reader that Iago is trying to persuade Othello into thinking that he (Iago) is a loyal friend, when in fact Iago is extremely jealous of both Othello and Cassio.
