Research Proposal: Futbol; Banking Social Capital in Latin America Social Capital Refers to the unquantified social networks that establish norms of trust and reciprocity in a community. Social Capital leads to varying degrees of economic support and public health amplification, and is dependent on broad socio-political association creating interactions between separate economic classes in a community. Latin America presents an interesting opportunity to analyze social capital because of the common, strict socio-economic stratification that seem to limit conventional forms of social capital. Failures of Latin American economies to develop have been attributed to, among other things, this lack of social capital.
