Although Roosevelt wanted to enter World War II and fight Hitler’s Germany, he could not muster enough domestic support from a country still a little gun-shy after the cost, both the economic dollars and the human causalities, of the First Great War. The “Total War” FDR wanted was put aside and an issuance of neutrality was issued in 1939. ...
