Minzey, JR., and others similarly situated, sued the Oregon Arena Corp. for wrongful discharge and infliction of emotional distress. The defendant owns the Memorial Coliseum, a large entertainment forum in Portland. They hired the plaintiffs to provide security and medical assistance at music concerts and other entertainment events held there. The plaintiffs were trained by the defendant to carry out their duties as security officers as part of their employment.
