Iago is a brilliant character. He took advantage of the trust that Othello, Desdemona, Cassio, and Roderigo had in him and used this trust to get into, and therefore manipulate, their minds. Because of Iago, there was destruction of a marriage (between Desdemona and Othello), three murders (Roderigo, Desdemona, and Emilia), one suicide (Othello), and one person injured (Cassio).
