Biochemistry · There are four “classes” of organic molecules which are essential to human beings: - proteins - carbohydrates - lipids (organic fats) - nucleic acids (DNA, RNA) · Our cells, and therefore our bodies, are composed of the molecules. · We also use them as a source of energy for cellular respiration. · Proteins, carbohydrates are considered “nutrients”( along with the “micronutrients” vitamins minerals and H20) · The nucleic acids are the molecules of the genetic code.
