PRISONERS OF WEDLOCK Prisoners of Wedlock is a 1991 film about domestic violence. Filmed in California the film opens with startling statistics depicting the status of domestic violence against women in the United States. The film states that domestic one out of every three police calls are related to domestic violence. The producer states that more than four million women each year are beaten and that one half of all women will suffer physical abuse in their lifetime, not surprisingly, more than four thousand women will die as a result of domestic violence. The film depicts the inherent societal bias against women regarding domestic abuse by showing the historical perspective of the unfair treatment of women regarding domestic violence.
