Images and language in Intimacy
In Raymond Carver’s short story, “Intimacy,” he describes a first person point of view of a man who causes his ex-wife anguish and humiliation. ... Through body language, italic words, expressive words, symbols, and images the man feels guilty and is showing a solely effort to be forgiven. ... The body language used by the man, while being described to “get down on my knees […] and I take the hem of her dress,” (450) shows that he is feeling guilty.
