Therefore, an objection raised to utilitarianism, is its appeal in seeking to treat individuals equally yet its ability to defy our institutions on the general conception of how to treat individuals equally. Kymlicka asserts, “Utilitarianism has misrepresented the ideal of equal consideration,” consequently, allowing some individuals to be treated unequally, “as a means to other people’s ends.
