War Photographer and Sox Young Men
Both these poems were inspired by the influence of war. War Photographer examines the dilemma facing a war photographer, and why anyone would choose to do this job. In the first verse the photographer’s darkroom is compared to a church in which the red light is similar to the light coming through the stained glass windows. ... ‘Fields which don’t explode beneath the feet of running children’ this is stark comparison between the innocence and happiness of children and the violence of land mines and war. ... The way the editor casually picks out the five or six pictures for publication is a harsh comparison to the agony of war.
