Griet the super tramp Small circus midgets, bearded ladies and you can’t forget the clowns; well you won’t find them in this paper. No it’s about Girl with pearl earring by: Tracy chevalier. A book written about a painting done in the 17th century; by an artist who really didn’t do much work; only 35 pieces of artwork are known. To cut to the chaise girl with a pearl earring was absolutely horrible. I give it two thumbs down. Out of the whole book I think I read one hundred pages out of two hundred and thirty three. I tried reading at different hours of the day hoping that maybe I wouldn’t fall asleep, but that didn’t happen. The story behind this book comes from a painting by Johannes Vermeer. The painting was called girl with pearl earring. Tracy chevalier thought it would be a great idea to write a book on this painting. The book was about a young girl of 16 yrs of age named Griet. Griet's father was a tile maker but in a horrible twist of ironic fate he was blinded by and exploding kiln. Therefore he could never work again he lost his trade. The family pretty much sold Griet to be a maid and help out the family. Her brother peiter was off in an apprenticeship to learn how to make tiles just like his father.
