In an ill-fated attempt to direct a “cinematic masterpiece,” “Plan Nine from Outer Space” was Ed Woods’ portrayal of aliens invading the Earth to resurrect the three main actors: Bela Lugosi, Vampira, and Tor Johnson. ... For instance, in “Plan Nine from Outer Space,” one of the lead actors, Bela Lugosi, died an untimely death during the making of the film. ... Scenes from a previous film which included Bela Lugosi had to be reprocessed in correlation with scenes that incorporated another actor. This was done in an attempt to keep Lugosi’s death a secret from the audience. ... The structure and contrast were also elements of “Plan Nine from Outer Space” that fell short of accomplishment. ... “Plan Nine from Outer Space” was in definite need of improvement where editing was concerned.
