Wage Gap
... Wage gap difference is the top workplace issue for the vast majority of employed women (94 percent), according to a nationwide survey of 50,000 workingwomen by the AFL-CIO last year. ...
Wage gap difference is something that is very present in the modern capitalistic structure. A report by Dingell & Maloney, found the wage gap for women managers actually widened from women earning 83 cents for every dollar a man earns in 1995 to 62 cents for every dollar a man earns in 2000. Every other occupational area studied by Dingell and Maloney also showed a significant wage gap (Smeal 2002). Fisher lends a more specific example of significant wage gap difference in her article “Ask Annie,” where she describes a woman that actually makes $15,000 less a year than two of her male colleagues who do the exact same work and have virtually identical backgrounds and experience (Fisher 2002).
