Concepts: the Foundation of Literature
The foundation for any story like The Crucible by Arthur Miller is based on concepts. Concepts provide the reader with a setting and direction that the story will head into. Without concepts, a story would just be a bunch of meaningless words scrambled on the page. In The Crucible the themes of the story are explicitly developed throughout the entire play. Pride, self-centeredness, and vengeance are just a few the possible choices for concepts integrated into the play. Pride is a contradicting topic, going both in a good way and in a bad way. For this purpose, the positive outlook on pride is going to be discussed. Pride is the quality of life a person has or their state of being.
