Nat Turner

The life of Nat Turner symbolizes the meaning of self-sacrifice. Nat Turner was born on October 2, 1800, in Southampton County, Virginia. Nat Turner was a religious leader of the August 1831 Southampton Virginia slave revolt. Some people called Nat Turner a heathen while others called him a Christian prophet. It is said that as a child Turner spoke about things that occurred before his birth. Turner found the biblical scriptures that called slavery unjust and contrary to the will of God.
