“Nature is not a place to visit, it is home… (Snyder, 7).” Gary Snyder in “The Etiquette of Freedom” believes that nature is home for all humankind; people have lived in the wild from the beginning. “I consider the mountainside a special place, a place with power…(Peacock, 4).” In chapters 1 and 19 from Doug Peacock’s Grizzly Years, he states that his encounter with nature comforts him and brings him power. Although their reasons are different from each other, both Snyder and Peacock appreciates and values nature; they believe that the human race should be in harmony with nature.
