Themes in the movie John Q
My primary source, which is John Q, has many different themes and topics that is raises. What i found very interesting in the movie, was that it caused me to get emotionally into the movie. ... When making the movie, the director and writers wanted the movie to have a great effect on the viewers. ... Therefore, he felt very passionate about the movie and wanted it to effect people and connect them with the situation on a more deep level. While watching the movie, i was very emotional, and felt very passionate about the issues raised in it. I think that this is very interesting; how can a movie, which is basically a “fake” story cause me to be so emotional and feel that I needed to get a donor’s bracelet? After asking myself this question, i viewed the movie many more times and discovered a lot more. The issue of heart transplants raised in the movie has a great emotional and sentimental value to the viewers. ... In the movie, Mike, a 9 year old boy who plays little league baseball and inspires to be a body builder, seems to be in excellent shape. ... By this, i mean that not only are his parents (in the movie) are shocked, but all of the viewers. ... This question made me look at other aspects of the movie, that if were to be portrayed differently, would change the viewer’s reaction. ... Would we sympathize this much with John Q if we hadnt earlier been forced to witness Woods making tennis plans with a rich, transplant recipient?
