Attachment Theory
social attachment theory is a psychological theory that attempts to explain why some babies grow up to be functional adults and others grow up to be dysfunctional adults. This theory assumes that the development of an attachment between a baby and their primary caretaker is the foundation for all future development that the child will go through. Attachment theory was developed by John Bowlby in the mid 1900’s. He says that when a child senses in their early childhood that there is someone looking out for and nurturing them, that child forms an attachment to nurturer, usually a parent.
