Sharks
There seems to be two main views on sharks. Those that think there are hundreds of Great White Sharks waiting to eat people at the shoreline and those that think that sharks are not really dangerous and want to pet them. ... It should be remembered that all sharks can bite, just like all fish can bite. ... The sharks that can really do a lot of damage to humans are the ones with large triangular shaped upper teeth with serrated edges. ... Thats why sharks with long, narrow teeth dont consider divers their dinner! ... It really goes to show that most sharks are not interested in attacking us. ... The Solitary Islands are a good place to see these sharks. ... I have also been to Forster a bit further south and see some really big sharks at a site called The Pinnacles. ... An enormous amount has been learned about these sharks in the last few years. ... In the sixties and seventies these poor sharks were killed in their thousands because it was thought they were man-eaters. ... Many of the attacks were likely to have been by Bull Sharks, a species that the average person hasnt even heard of! ... These sharks will put up with divers to a certain degree. However if divers are in large numbers and continually upsetting them they will, like most sharks move to a new location. Most dive shops try to limit the number of divers on shark dives and then try to leave the site alone for a few days so the sharks dont get too spooked.
