Japan’s history after World War 2 started out rough, but with the help of many workers willing to rebuild and reconstruct this unstable country it pulled itself out of a rut and back into the real world. After its loss to the United States, Japan began the very long process of rebuilding itself. ... On its way to stability, as it was before, Japan soon became a leading power in the world once again.
Soon after World War 2, Japan’s economy began to suffer greatly. The dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki had resulted in the destruction of many of the nation’s factories and the leveling of many of Japan’s largest cities. ... Japan was almost closed off from the outside world because most of it’s trading ports and ships had been destroyed, and to add to that the value of its currency, the yen, dropped so low that Japan could not afford to purchase many foreign goods. It took Japan almost a decade to recover form these losses. ...
