The Story of Psyche and Cupid Psyche was the youngest of three daughters. She was so beautiful that Aphrodite herself became jealous of her. The goddess then sent her son Eros to make Psyche fall in love with a repulsive man. It was her fate to marry a monster on a mountaintop. However, Eros fell in love with the girl and visited her every night, but forbade her to see his face, so she did not know the identity of her lover. Her sisters became jealous of her that she was married to such a mysterious being and lived in such a beautiful palace. On their instigation, Psyche tried to discover the true identity of her husband. One night after Eros fell asleep; she lit an oil lamp near him to see his face.
