Interview with an Atheist

... Since I have a strong faith in the Catholic Church, I chose to interview someone that views life in another perspective than that of the Catholic religion. ... However, I wanted to go further and interview someone who really believes there is nothing bigger out there. ... When he decided to moved back to Houma, he came back as an intense atheist. I knew nothing about Atheism until I performed an interview with him. ... I began the interview with Scott by asking him what exactly is atheism and what are its main beliefs. ... He stated that there are two different types of atheist. Just lacking belief in gods is often referred to as the "weak atheist" position; whereas believing that gods do not (or cannot) exist is known as "strong atheism". ... So am I an atheist? ... As we continued the interview, I asked him how are atheists different than religious people. ... During this point of the interview, I began to understand that not matter who you are, the chances are great that you have met several atheists without realizing it. ... By this time in the interview, I wanted to know why there are so many theists if atheism is so great. ... I proceeded the interview by asking him why can’t a god exists. ... So is the meaning of life really unimportant to an Atheist? ... For example, an atheist may dedicate his or her life to politics , in the hope of leaving his mark on history. ... I then ask him how does a person who is very religious all of the sudden becomes an Atheist. ... I concluded my interview by asking him why he is an Atheist. ... After performing my interview about Atheism, I feel that Atheists are everyday people living the same lives as everyone else. ... Being an Atheist is not wrong at all and people who believe in Atheism should not be persecuted for the beliefs.
