Abstract Responsibilities of Engineers

In Deborah Johnson’s article “The Social and Professional Responsibility of Engineers,” [1] she writes of several distinct duties of professional engineers conducting military research including the actuality that engineers should not permit their ethical standpoints to interfere with their work, allow the compromise of their moral values for the betterment of avaricious executives, or deny society empirical facts and data which may spur thoughts and opinions regarding the safety and overall effectiveness of each task. By doing so, she creates a platform for engineers to stand on when making decisions of utmost importance.
