I AM SAM Psychologically, I think that Sam is indeed capable of raising Lucy. He should have custody of her because as proven several times though out the movie, Sam is the one who Lucy runs to for nourishment and love. ... Even though Sam had the mentality of a seven year old, he had the heart of a wise, patient, and loving parent.
