When Africa is thought of today, most people think of poverty, famine, and disease. ... But in Africa’s “Golden Age” (1st-15th century AD) it was the epicenter of the rest of the known world. Africa radiated its knowledge and resources which, in turn, shaped Medieval Earth. Though, some would argue that Africa was shaped by the rest of the world, its great kingdoms, trading network, and slave trade, were a key ingredient in the shaping of the history of the world.

Medieval Africa was an advanced civilization comprised of many societies and kingdoms throughout its history, which built upon each other with the rise and fall of each successive empire. ... Egypt was close to Europe, Asia, and the rest of Africa. ...
