Day Lincoln Was Shot Book review
Richard Bak, The Day Lincoln Was Shot, Dallas, Taylor Publishing Company, 1998, 224 pages, maps, illustrations, bibliography, index. ... After giving some background on both individuals and the nation, the storyline continues a build up to Lincoln’s assassination. In the build up the author gives a large number of important details of how and why Booth rationalized assassinating Lincoln. Down the line, after Lincoln passes away the main focus changes more toward the manhunt directed at Booth. The major storyline ends with the two week train memorial that Lincoln’s body took to Springfield, Illinois and the nation that mourned.
