Personal Statement
I am a seventeen year old senior at Fairmont Preparatory Academy. Even though I was born and raised in California, my perspective of life is global. I am the second of three sons born to an immigrant family from the West African country of the Gambia. I have been exposed to African culture and traditions from birth. I spend at least one month in Africa every year. At age 11, I enrolled in a school in the Gambia, where I attended and completed the sixth grade. The year I spent in Africa has had a tremendous impact on my life.
