Spike Lees Do the Right Thing
Spike Lee’s film Do The Right Thing is an interesting, insightful and sometimes confusing social commentary on life in the urban city in the late 1980’s. ... Do The Right Thing follows the entire neighborhood around but focuses mainly on Sal’s Pizzeria and the employees there. ... Mookie, played by writer, director and producer, Spike Lee, is the biggest connection between Sal’s and he community. ... They commented on the economic situations like when Sweet Dick Willy said “You’re about 30 cents away from a quarter” and the social situations when Da Mayor told Mookie to “Always do the right thing. ... The strange thing was that he wouldn’t stop choking him. ... ” Later on that same cop was the one who ending up killing Radio Raheem, coincidently that happened right before Sal’s was set on fire, so that very hydrant was turned on again. ... A quote mentioned earlier was when Da Mayor told Mookie to “Always do the right thing. ... Spike Lee is known for doing powerful films involving racism and having strong messages in his films obviously wanted something to be said or talked about with this film. ... While Radio Raheem and Buggin’ Out had their right to ask to have black people on the hall of fame, Sal had the right to put up anyone he wants in his business.
