Things aren't always what they seem. Sometimes we don't always realize that we have given into temptation until after we have been submerged into a never-ending web of influences and desires. Once we give into one temptation, we continue to do so, making us lose complete track of what is right and wrong in the world and who we are altogether. In this poem, Laura gives into one temptation trying the forbidden fruits of the goblin and ends up paying for it with many years of her life. Although she knew that death was a factor she tried the fruit anyways. The question is why did she give into temptation when she knew that only the worst was to be expected. A fable is a short, pithy animal tale, most often told or written with a moral tagged on in the form of a proverb. Thus to convey a moral is the aim of most fables, and the tale is the vehicle by which this is done, providing both an illustration of and compelling argument for the moral.
