Sports officials who officiate youth and amateur to minor and major sports sometimes find themselves in court facing lawsuits arising out of their officiating actions. The mere threat of a lawsuit is sometimes enough to deter people from officiating. ... All these cases arise in different sports to show that no one sport can promise that an official can join without having to worry about certain lawsuits. Officials must understand that now a days, lawsuits can be as common as breathing. Some of these lawsuits sound stupid, but the plaintiffs’ do have good enough reasons to win, I guess.
