Humes critiques
Humes Critiques of the Argument for Design In philosophy of religion David Hume (1711-76) is particularly known for two arguments which question the validity of certain religious beliefs. He is probably most well known, or referred to, regarding his critique of miracles (see Humes Philosophy of Religion: Miracles and Revelation), however he is also known for his discussion of the design argument for the existence of God. Humes critiques of the design argument appear in Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion and were actually published three years after his death in 1779 (probably due to increasing hostility regarding his religious views).
