Clothing in the Elizabethan period depended all on the social standing of the wearer. You pick out the rich from the poor by the way the dressed. Clothing was a symbol of wealth. The cost of these clothes all depended on the fabric and color of the outfit and ensemble. Dyes were used for the alluring colors of their outfit. Purple was made by sea snails and crimson was made by beetles. The costly fabrics were corduroy, satins, and fine weaved clothing.
