Baroque era
The Baroque Era stretched from 1600 until the death of Bach in 1750. The origin of the term: "baroque" comes from the Portuguese and refers to an "irregular shaped pearl". This is indeed an apt description of the Baroque time period, which included the production of some of the greatest music of all time, but also was a time of some of the bloodiest wars in history. Opera in the early Baroque Era was concentrated in two major areas: Italy and England. ... The opera of the late Baroque was much more refined.
