Perssimons. Young Lee
In "Persimmons" the poet shares with us his own experience of learning English. In this poem Young Lee tells about his arriving into English-speaking country and difficulties he meets that are imposed by new culture and language. For an Asian boy, English becomes not only a mean of communication but also a way to his confidence and developing a power. The poem triggered in me the memories of my own not easy steps of learning English. Indeed, knowing the language gives one a power that comes from self-confidence. Without the ability of understanding and speaking English one can not help being humiliated.
