The importance of laws

Laws are the set of enforced rules under which society is governed. Laws are one of the most basic social institutions but probably the most necessary. ... Therefore laws restrict people from carrying out certain acts. Even early civilisations such as the Romans recognised the need for laws. Many laws protect peoples rights. There are penalties for violating laws. Most laws are enforced by courts or by a police force such as the Garda Siochana. However there are laws in every branch of society. For example there is laws in schools as well as laws in football or in any other sport. ... Many laws are written up in the constitution. Laws can be enacted or repealed. Some laws are more rigid than others and are more strictly enforced. Even though some laws are not strictly adhered to, laws are still a necessity in life.
