Within the past decade, the world of youth sports has sadly turned into a serious enterprise rather than offering children the opportunity to play and have fun. ... This violence has become so bad that parents are now considered to be in control of youth sports, taking all emphasis away from the actual participants. ... The following are possible solutions to eliminate this negative control of the adults in youth sports. First, a “No-Yelling” policy can be enacted at youth events. ... Second, better officials at youth events could reduce the anger of parents watching the games. Most referees in youth sports have little experience and are prone to making questionable calls. ... Adult control in youth sports could have possibly resulted from societal changes in America. ... Pushing limits has overflowed into youth sports and has caused children to be thrown into a life dedicated to these sports. The problem is that children are often spending more time practicing sports than they spend at home with their family; thus, sports are becoming like a substitute family.
