Lear angrily takes her land then sends her to France through marriage to the King of France. In this scene, King Lear takes great strides towards a full storm of madness.
Later, Shakespeare presents madness as a tool to forge strength and build character in Edgar, son of Gloucester. ... He is being prepared for the role of king. Strangely enough, Edgar’s madness can be contrasted to the madness of Lear’s jester, the Fool.
Through the Fool, Lear’s jester, Shakespeare demonstrates that madness may reveal some truths. He use the Fool to show truths of the king and the court to the audience.
