Renaissance An Intellectual and Artistic Revolution

The Renaissance slowly started to come about in 14th century Europe but did not spread throughout Europe until the 15th and 16th centuries. Beginning in Italy, due to the increase in trade, the Renaissance did not start to remove the medieval views that were in place in Europe but instead used most of the ideas and adapted them. The Renaissance should not only be considered an intellectual and artistic revolution, but the rebirth of old Greek and Roman skills and knowledge, the discovery of new things and ideas, and the transition from the medieval era to the modern world we know today as well. To begin with, a major part of the Renaissance was the rebirth and rediscovery of the ancient Greco-Roman knowledge and skills including painting and architecture.
