Reading Response I really enjoyed “The Great Gatsby”. ... For instance, though Nick Carraway was the narrator, Gatsby`s presence was always felt. ... Though, Jay Gatsby may represent the American hero with great aspirations, for me, he was first and foremost a romantic hero with a tragic fate. ... Daisy could have been the most extraordinarily fascinating person in the world and she still could not have lived up to Gatsby’s dream of her. For a while, I am sure that Gatsby would have been on cloud nine and incredulous of the fact that he was really with her, but one day she would have disappointed him in some way and in the end his perfect love would have collapsed. It is just like when Gatsby realized that the green light at the tip of the island where Daisy lived and which Gatsby looked at so often imagining her presence would never again represent all that it had before he had been reunited with her.
